This position is a part-time position. The candidate should be able to create exteriors or interiors and components through advanced design direction to ensure the highest quality deliverables, such as fresh ideas, innovative designs, and well-executed and well-developed 3D/physical models. During the design process, the position will have the opportunity to contribute their own design suggestions whenever possible to improve overall deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create exterior and component design solutions while demonstrating superior design language;
• exterior/interior design tasks range from completing overall styling to single components such as lights, rims, front bumpers, rear bumpers, instrument panels, door panels, center consoles, steering wheels, hard trim, seats and dashboards;
• tracking projects from start to finish by providing appropriate vehicle themes to convey the spirit of each vehicle brand;
• researching and maintaining a competitive digital benchmarking library;
• developing design themes into cohesive design solutions and completing 2D to 3D conversions;
• Conduct professional and high visual quality design presentations.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 5 years industry experience;
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Transportation Design or Industrial Design;
• talent and creativity, with a passion for automotive design;
• excellent automotive design knowledge and experience (i.e. concept generation, theme exploration and development into cohesive proposals, development from 2D to 3D, etc.);
• innovation and fresh ideas in different design disciplines;
• ability to work independently on design projects;
• excellent sketching, visualization and graphics skills (i.e. hand drawing, Photoshop, etc.);
• excellent ability to coordinate and collaborate with a clay modeler on scaled and full-size clay models;
• proficiency in digital 3D modeling (i.e. Alias, Blender, Speedform);
• Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese. (visual, verbal, written);
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain fluid communication with all levels;
• Good presentation skills with the ability to competently present and review designs.

The candidate of this position should be able to independently complete the modeling from 2D rendering to 3D, adjust and modify the surface with the designer's appearance requirements or engineer's structural design. Understand relevant engineering requirements related to interior and exterior design, refine A-surface feature design according to dts definition, check and release A-surface digital model according to A-class surface standard.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete the CAS/Class-A surfacing for EXT/INT by using ICEM-Surf;
• Define team goals, administratively and technically direct the work of subordinates;
• Make work assignments, set or negotiate deadlines and completion dates in agreement with the Project manager / Work Package Responsible;
• Review and accept, amend or reject work packages done by team or subordinates in agreement with the Project manager / Work Package Responsible;
• Assign performance ratings, approve awards and take performance-based corrective actions;
• Create and implement work directives and guidelines;
• Schedule for team and individual training;
• Lead engineering teams technically and / or with (sub-) project management responsibility;
• Other tasks assigned by the superior.

• Fluently English and/or Chinese speaking and writing skills;
• Be able to work overtime and willing to travel;
• At least bachelor degree in engineering;
• Major in Industrial design, mechanical design;
• At least 5 years above CAS/Class A surfacing experience with ICEM Surf in auto industry.
